About Us

The Store

The Olympics weren't the only great thing to come to Calgary in 1988, as this was also the year that Ed Williams Men's Wear opened its doors. After over 20 years of retail experience in the men's clothing business, Ed ventured out on his own. Ed aspired to create a fun and relaxed shopping environment that even the biggest "shop-a-phobe" could enjoy. After all shopping should be an exciting experience.

Customers are treated to a panoramic view of the Rockies thanks to our prime location in Crowfoot Village Shopping Center. Which also offers convenient store-front parking.

While high staff turnover has become a given when doing business in Calgary, we have been fortunate enough to have maintained our core of knowledgeable sales staff. When visiting us you are always guaranteed to see a familiar face.

Traditionally Ed Williams Men's Wear has catered towards Calgary's business and Formal clothing needs. However, with the emergence of "Dressy Casual" we have lead the curve in evolving to provide for all of your clothing wants. Our customers now have the convenience of shopping for everything from a new suit to a pair of premium designer jeans under the same roof.

Staff Members

Ed Williams

Ed has spent over 40 years in the clothing business, long enough to see paisley and tight pants go in and out of fashion 3 times over! Through his outgoing personality and passion for the business he has accumulated a loyal following of friends and customers-- many of whom have become friends.

Ron Robertson

Following a successful career in education, communications, and management - and after being recruited as a model for numerous charitable fashion shows - Ron decided to take the obvious next step and join the business of men's fashion. Volunteer activities include being chair of the Lougheed House Conservation Society and being active with the Rotary Club of Calgary (Downtown). The new addition of Ron's grandchildren have served to reinforce his family values. These very values have played a big role in why Ron enjoys working in a family run business.

Larry O'Connor

Larry has a very diverse background involving framing, the oil and gas industry as well as time in the movie business. He has spent 40 years as a volunteer for the Calgary Stampede, including 8 years on the board of directors. Prior to all this Larry has spent 23 years in the clothing industry, both retail and wholesale. Larry's community involvement, contacts and experience make him a welcome addition to our team. Larry can be found working 3 days a week from Monday to Wednesday.

Lowell Williams

Lowell has been around the clothing business for as long as he can remember, mostly thanks to his lack of knowledge regarding any child labor laws. As soon as he was old enough to collect allowance nearly every penny of it went into buying clothes, and not much has changed. As you might have guessed Lowell is Ed's son and shares his father's enthusiasm for fashion and retail.

Luigi Vilardi

Our master tailor Luigi has been with Ed for over 20 years and is as much of a figure head in the store as Ed himself. Luigi learned the trade from the age of 12 while growing up in the Cosenza region of southern Italy. His enthusiasm for quality garments is perhaps only matched by his gusto for sports...go Flames and Stampeders go!

Maria Faria:

Maria has over 45 years of experience as a tailor and brings a fantastic eye for detail to the Ed Williams team. With the shortage of quality and experienced tailors in our industry we count ourselves extremely lucky to have three on staff.

Ana Barbos:

Originally from Romania, Ana's recent training has proven invaluable in our tailor shop. With her help we are able to devote even more resources towards getting you the perfect fit!

Youth, energy and enthusiasm are all contributions of our part time staff. Veronika, Danielle, and Greg-- all full time university students-- enjoy their relationships with customers and their experiences in retail sales.
